Summer sailing in Svalbar

In August 2017, I spent a week on a sail boat in Spitsbergen, the largest and only permanently populated island of the Svalbard archipelago in northern Norway. We went as far North as 79°16′15″N, which is further North than the last airport (Ny-Alesund 78°55′30″N 11°55′20″E) and we experienced the midnight sun. Under these latitudes, the sun is visible 24 hours from mid-April to end of August. That is there is no night, no twilight, no dawn, no dusk.

Solar Impulse 2 taking off from Moffett Field, CA

Some pictures I took while attending the departure of Solar Impulse 2 in Moffett Field. André Borschberg was piloting the leg to Phoenix. He and Bertrand Piccard fly this no-fuel solar plane around the world.  Learn more about that incredible adventure at www.solarimpulse.com #FutureIsClean.

For this 5th edition “Legends of Le Mans”, the public was not disappointed. Porsche candies were everywhere. Even for the kids: read more

DARPA Robotics Challenge 2015

On June 5-6, 2015, I went to the DRC Finals at Fairplex in Pomona, California. The challenge was for a humanoid robot to drive a car, open a door, shut off a valve, cut a hole in sheetrock, and a few other tasks, like climbing stairs or go over debris. There were 4 courses for robots to compete at the same time and they had 1 hour to complete all the tasks.
